How to Protect New Car Paint in Pakenham
New paint is the easiest paint to keep good. Most of the damage it collects arrives in the first year.

A new car arrives with the best paint it will ever have. Almost everything that happens to that finish over the next few years is preventable, and most of it happens in the first twelve months while the car is still being treated as though it looks after itself.
Step One, Inspect It Properly on Delivery
Look at the car in daylight, not under showroom lights, and not in the rain. Look along the panels at an angle for wash marks, check for transport film residue around the edges, and check the wheels and lower panels for delivery damage. It is far easier to raise something on day one than in month three.
Step Two, Wash It Safely From the Start
This is the highest value habit in car care and it costs almost nothing. Two buckets with grit guards, a clean microfibre mitt, a pH neutral shampoo, and a soft drying towel. Never an automatic brush wash, and never wipe a dry panel.
Step Three, Match Protection to the Actual Risk
Wax or Sealant
Cheap, easy, and short lived. Fine if you enjoy doing it and do not mind repeating it every few months. It will not change much about how the car ages.
Ceramic Coating
The right answer for chemical resistance, UV protection and making the car dramatically easier to wash for years. The systems used at Detail 2 Drive are backed by an 8 year warranty, and there are three coating tiers depending on whether you want paint only, paint with wheels and glass, or the interior as well.
Paint Protection Film
The only thing that meaningfully protects against stone chips, because it is a thick physical layer over the panels that take impact. Detail 2 Drive does not offer film, so if highway kilometres and front bar chips are your main concern, that is a job for a film specialist.
Step Four, Think About Where the Car Lives
Parked outside all day at work in full sun, or under a tree at home, changes the calculation. UV, bird droppings and sap are the three things that do real damage to Australian paint, and they are exactly what a coating gives you a sacrificial layer against.
Step Five, Deal With Contamination the Same Day
Bird droppings and sap etch into clear coat while they sit, and they do it faster on a hot panel. Soften with plain water or a quick detailer, lift rather than rub, and use a clean towel.
Does a New Car Need Correction First
More often than you would think. Transport handling and dealer wash swirls are common, and a coating is clear, so anything left in the paint stays visible underneath it. Every car coated at Pakenham goes through full preparation and correction first, new ones included.
This is the part worth getting right. Coating a new car over unprepared paint locks the delivery marks in for the life of the coating, and the only way back is to remove the coating and start again.
