Paint Protection Film Pakenham

A ceramic coating protects against chemicals and makes the car easier to wash. It does not stop a stone. Paint protection film is a clear urethane layer that physically absorbs the impact, so the chip lands in the film and the paint underneath stays untouched.

Film Coverage Options

Coverage is the only real decision with film, and it comes down to how the car is used rather than what it cost. Every option below is cut to your vehicle and quoted on the car, because panel sizes, existing damage and how much of the car you want covered all change the job.

01

Front End

The panels that take almost every stone chip on a highway run. The most common first booking, and the one that covers the damage people actually get.

  • Full front bumper
  • Partial bonnet and front guards
  • Headlights

Full Front

The same impact zone taken to full panels, so there is no film line sitting across the middle of the bonnet where you can see it.

  • Full bonnet and full front guards
  • Full front bumper, headlights and mirrors
  • No visible join across the bonnet

03

Full Body

Every painted panel wrapped. For cars that are kept, collected, or simply never worth touching up.

  • Every painted exterior panel
  • High wear areas including sills and A pillars
  • Door edges and handle cups

Related Add Ons

Smaller sections that are often added to a front end or full front booking, usually because they are the next thing to get damaged. Quoted with the job.

  • Door Edges And Handle CupsThe two spots that get chipped by fingernails and car park doors, covered for very little.
  • Sills And Rocker PanelsThe strip that catches everything thrown up off the road behind the front wheels.
  • A Pillars And Roof Leading EdgeWhat gets sandblasted at highway speed on anything with a steep windscreen.
  • Ceramic Coating Over FilmCoating applied on top of the film, so the surface stays easy to wash and the film keeps its clarity.

Stage By Stage

What Is Included In A Film Installation

Film is unforgiving of a poor surface underneath. Anything left on the paint gets sealed under a layer that is meant to stay there for years, so the preparation matters more here than on any other service.

  • Full Wash And Decontamination

Wash, clay and chemical decontamination, because every piece of bonded contamination left behind becomes a permanent lump under the film.

  • Paint Correction Before Fitting

Defects corrected first. Film is clear, so swirls underneath stay visible, and they are not reachable again until the film comes off.

  • Panel Wipe Down And Edge Preparation

Surfaces and panel edges cleaned back so the film has clean urethane to key into and the edges do not lift later.

  • Film Cut To Your Vehicle

Patterns cut for your exact model rather than trimmed off a generic sheet on the car.

  • Wrapped Edges Where The Panel Allows

Edges taken around and tucked where the panel permits, so you are not looking at a cut line across the middle of a bonnet.

  • Installation In The Climate Controlled Studio

Fitted in a dust and temperature controlled space, which is the single thing that decides whether the finish is clean or full of trapped specks.

  • Controlled Cure And Final Inspection

The car stays inside while the film sets, then it is checked over under the light rig before handover with clear aftercare direction.

The Approach

Why Have Film Fitted At Detail 2 Drive

Film is the least forgiving service in detailing. It is fitted wet, it has to be shaped onto curved panels without creasing, and every speck of dust in the air during the install is sealed under a clear layer where you will see it for years. A fixed, climate controlled studio is not a selling point for this job, it is the whole reason the finish comes out clean.

The film goes over corrected paint or it does not go on. Fitting a clear layer over swirled paint locks the defects in and puts them out of reach, so correction happens first as part of the job rather than being offered as an upsell afterwards.

Jesse fits the film himself, and will tell you plainly where the sensible stopping point is for your car. Most people do not need full body. Front end covers the damage that actually happens, and being told that costs us the bigger job and keeps the advice honest.

Which Panels Each Option Covers

Select a coverage option to see which panels carry film. The front of the car takes nearly all the impact damage, which is why most bookings start there.

The same zone taken to full panels, plus mirrors and A pillars. Nothing is half covered, so there is no film line sitting across the middle of the bonnet where you can see it in the light.
